Overview
Suvio emerged from the universal expat struggle of finding affordable flights for loved ones across the globe. Living abroad means constantly juggling multiple airport combinations, checking overlapping date ranges, and wondering if there was a cheaper route to a city I'd never considered. The vision was simple: a flight search tool designed specifically for people navigating the complexity of distance. Using Figma, I mapped out a clean interface that prioritized multi-airport searches and flexible date ranges. Claude.ai became my technical translator, helping me craft detailed prompts that captured exactly what I needed the app to do. Base44 turned those prompts into a live web app with real API integrations, transforming abstract wireframes into a working product that actually solved my problem.
Challenges
The biggest challenge was translating the messy, human experience of trip planning into something a machine could understand. Flight search feels simple until you realize how many variables matter: Should it prioritize price or convenience? How do you rank the savings? I spent hours in Figma boards iterating on how to present overlapping results without overwhelming users, eventually settling on a card-based layout that felt like browsing rather than calculating. Prompting Claude required precision. I had to describe not just what buttons did, but why users would click them, what they'd expect to see next, and how the app should handle edge cases. Base44's strength was its speed in developing, but I needed to get the prompt right the first time. Vague instructions produced vague results, so I learned to be specific about interaction patterns and the exact flow between searching, comparing, and saving.
Conclusion
Building Suvio taught me that AI assisted coding (aka "vibe-coding") allows me to focused on what I'm good at: understanding user needs, designing thoughtful interactions, and communicating clearly. Figma gave me the space to think visually, Claude gave me the language to bridge design and development, and Base44 gave me the execution speed to see my ideas come alive in hours instead of weeks. The final app isn't perfect, but it works for a problem I actually have.
