Winter Fashion This Season

Winter Fashion This Season

Sabrina here and can you believe Thanksgiving is over?! Christmas is right around the corner (brrr) and I've put together some fashion favorites that I love. Don't get me wrong, I will always be a summer lovin' kind of girl but layering chunky sweaters and bundling up gets me excited. Luckily enough, I work at an awesome boutique (www.ElizaAsh.com) so I get to see all the latest trends of season. I'm constantly debating in my head "Don't get it, don't get it, don't get it... oh but it is s'cute. Okay, I'm getting it but nothing else.... OOOH look!" Anyway, take a look at these adorable pieces I've been swooning over.

76534_cognac_l

So these Frye boots may be a little expensive but they are worth it! You can pair this with almost any winter outfit and they last forever. But if you're like me (ballin' on a budget over here) then these next boots are your best bet.

3819208_fpx

The price is much more reasonable and they are just as versatile. All riding boots get a win from me.

black_faux_leather_leggings

Oh yass! These faux leather leggings are ALL THE RAGE in my book. When Brandi and I went to market in Atlanta, I was on the HUNT for leather leggings. Because I am a thicker girl, faux leather leggings have to be just right. They can't be too shiny or then they start looking like plastic. These are absolutely perfect. I wore this for Thanksgiving because I needed the stretch but style as well. They don't hold in heat like a lot of leather leggings and they don't stick to you either. A staple in my closet!

grey_and_ivory_striped_chunky_mock_neck_sweater

First, shout-out to our newest employee, Janelle. Isn't she beautiful?! Now, this sweater is selling like crazy here at Eliza Ash and I get why. It's extremely soft and just chunky enough. You can pair it was jeans and boots and call it a day!

dark_purple_cc_beanie

I used to HATE beanies. Genuinely, I would never put one on my head. I had this irrational fear that beanies would make me look like a boy. Then one day here, at Eliza Ash,  I had to wear a few for photos. As you can tell by the picture, I felt so awkward so I tried to lighten it up with a funny face. Then I noticed, I really might like these. I wore a couple other colors around in the store and started to really really like them.... then I bought them. I figured out that when you pair the beanies with a super cute outfit, it ties it all together. It goes to show, try things you thought you would never like! You will find things that you thought would never work (cough chokers cough).

long_plaid_wool_coat

I remember when I was in high school, my parents took me to NYC. While walking around, there was this woman, waving for a cab, and she was wearing a long black and white striped peacoat. She had the big sunglasses and designer handbag with red-bottom heels (double swoon). It was like a Sex In The City fashion moment for me and ever since then, I love long coats. There is something so classy about this piece and I can never get enough. The day it came through the store, I knew I had to snag it. And like everything else, I did.

74042-0-browse-s

Here at Eliza Ash, we're big fans of Nasty Gal, in particular, Sophia Amoruso (#GirlBoss). I'm always on the hunt for something sparkly or shimmery for New Years and this dress totally caught my eye. I would, of course, throw over a long peacoat and some black heels and hit the party. We have something very similar here at Eliza Ash shown below.

gold_metallic_spaghetti_strap_dress

I love love love this dress and it may just be my dress for the holidays, stay tuned. :)

These were just a few of my favorites, I have plenty more. Fill me in on a few of your go-to items so I can check it out! Leave some comments, follow us on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. Message us and say hello or stop by the store. I love talking to you guys, but ya'll already knew that ;)

FALL NECESSITIES YOU’LL LOVE

Finally, actual Fall weather has arrived! It was super chilly this morning and right now there’s someone leaf blowing outside of Eliza Ash. Gets me all excited... IT'S ALMOST THANKSGIVING! Sabrina here and I wanted to come to you today to talk about Fall necessities. This is a list of everything I’ve been reaching for this month and thought you would love these too!

love tan deluxe bronzing mousse

If you're anything like me, you binge watch YouTube Beauty Gurus in the wee hours of the night and do your best to recreate their looks . Well, I can personally attest to much raved about Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse. Once August ends, I turn into Casper's twin and the only saving grace is this self-tanner (stay out of those tanning beds ladies!) Be sure to exfoliate and lightly moisturize on your driest areas. It blends out perfectly with a tanning mit and it last 7-10 days. Bronze yo' self!

Shout out to my dear friend and awesome hair stylist, Tia, for recommending this Luster Lock Conditioner. The colder this weather gets, the more dry my hair seems to become. I've only used it 3 times but I can already tell a difference. Anybody who knows me knows that I'm CRAZY about my hair and super picky about what I put in it. My hair is much softer and dries smooth since using this. I don't use heat on my hair often so anything that let's me just wash it and wake up without styling is a KEEPER!

81m5dpagvll-_sx522_

If you haven't used this In-Shower Body Lotion by Nivea, you're missing out. I have super sensitive skin and NEVER use regular lotion partly because it's irritating and partly because I'm lazy (lol). After I wash my body, I throw this on in the shower while I let my conditioner sit and GIRL, talk about smooth and soft. But FYI, be careful. I may or may not have slipped and caught my self with the shower curtain because I did not read the warning on the bottle...

17475451

I have normal skin so I use both matte and dewy foundations when it comes to my makeup. However, I'm all about that glow girl, so I typically reach for this True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation. It has coverage that you can build and it blends really well. The best part is that it's less expensive than a high-end foundation and works just as well (in my opinion).

black_white_blanket_scarf_3_1024x1024

SCARVES! {Insert cheesy laughing photo} I love love love scarves. Thankfully I work where there is an endless amount of scarves on deck and I can throw one on whenever I want. Seriously though, I have a closet full of basics and the easiest thing to do when I want to look like I actually tried that day, is throw on a scarf and boots.

us-vsl-0p25oz-cocoabutter_tcm2858-777562

Y'all, I LIVE by this stuff. I have at least 4 of these mini Vaseline lip butters floating around at any given time. I personally like the scented kind but they're all awesome. I am not a big fan of regular Chapstick because a lot of times there is hidden alcohol that can actually dry your lips out more depending how sensitive you are. So Vaseline all the way! Applying this as I type...

71digwswykl-_sx522_

Well, we all know that coconut oil is the answer to all of the world's problems. I personally use it to remove my make-up, a hair mask before every shower, and extra moisture if I am looking to use some lotion. I reach for this all year, but I run threw a jar or two during the colder seasons especially. There are so many {crazy} ways to use this Holy Grail oil besides just beauty hacks, check it out!

So there ya have it, a few of my favorite things to use during the Fall and on into the winter. Anything bronzy, mosturizing or deep burgundy is my go-to. Let me know what you think! Like, comment, share and let's get talkin'. Better yet, come see me at Eliza Ash Boutique & let me squeeze your neck!

Xo,

Sabrina

What you need to get before seeing Fantastic Beasts in theater

What you need to get before seeing Fantastic Beasts in theater

Today is the day! The older I get, the more I hear people express their love for the Harry Potter series & how J.K. Rowling impacted their child, teenage & adult life. I have to be honest, and many of you will probably cast magic on me, but I never read the books. I know, I know...I've heard it all, the books were WAY better than the movies and I'm not a true HP fan. Well, that's just not nice. Hear me out. It wasn't until I turned 24 years young {yes...a year and a half ago} that reading even seemed remotely enjoyable. Reading was the equivalent of my mother making me eat peas with my dinner. Torture. My argument until this point was always, "Why would I read it when I can watch it?" Rebellious, I know. With that being said, I L-O-V-E-D the movies. J.K. Rowling & the movie directors sparked a sense of imagination I never thought I could have.

I will most definitely be going to see Fantastic Beasts: and Where to Find Them tonight in theaters! It will be the best 2 hours and 13 minutes I spend today. It was rated a 90% by Rotten Tomatoes critics & a 72% by Metacritic...what do they know? The budget for this film was $180 dollars which surprised me. I thought the budget would have been much higher. The most expensive film ever made was Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) costing $410.6 million dollars with Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (2009) ranking #7 in most expensive films ever made costing ~$250 million dollars.

Here is the link to the 2-minute trailer.

The film takes place 70 years before Harry Potter reads his book in school, and this is the Google excerpt:

The year is 1926, and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident, were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt's fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

mimosa_not_mimosa_tshirt

I will be sporting my Hermione-esque t-shirt tonight, which you can also get at www.ElizaAsh.com. If you do, take pictures and tag @elizaashboutique on Facebook & Instagram and hashtag #elizaashstyle! Like what you read? Reblog, like or comment to share your thoughts!

Lace Up Sleeve Dress

You can pair this dress with tights and knee-high boots, or wear with a cute pair of comfortable booties! We have some really great ones for you to check out! Throw on a statement necklace and you can either wear a cute jacket or treat a blanket scarf as a warm shawl.

Long Sleeve Lace Dress

Long Sleeve Lace Dress

If you're going for a more saucier look, this is the perfect dress for you! The material and texture make for a more formal dress, but looks great with tights and heels or a short heel bootie! If you aren't feeling this brave, you can always toss a camisole or bandeau underneath to cover up a little more skin :)

Fitted T-Shirt Dress

Fitted T-Shirt Dress

This is my favorite dress that we have in right now! It is so soft, simple & comfortable. You can truly pair this with whatever accessories you want. It is the perfect #LBD. I have paired it with a light-weight plaid infinity scarf and some caged heels {that I also love}! While I believe this dress will look great on any height, I am 5'8" and as you can see this dress cut at my knee caps.

High Neck Velvet Shift Dress

Last, but certainly not least, our mock neck velvet dress in navy! I love how this dress feels on and how easily it can be worn with a regular bra and shows no straps. You can pair this neckline with a short or long statement necklace & complete the look with nude or brown heels.

Thanks for dropping by to take a read. Feel free to leave any questions, comments or concerns you may have so we can better deliver material you find interesting. If you feel compelled, please share any of our blog posts as well :)

No Tricks Just TREATS

No Tricks Just TREATS

Hi hi hi! Sabrina here, coming from the little room in the back of Eliza Ash Boutique where the steamer is still warm and the boxes of new arrivals are never ending. The scariest thing about Halloween this year is the fact that it’s already here! If you’re at all like me, you’re a Grade A procrastinator. Typically around this time, I wait until the weekend of to start preparing my Halloween costumes. By preparing I mean go to the local Halloween store and pay a RIDICULOUS amount for a costume that I will never wear again. Four years ago in college, I paid $70 (grocery money) for a lady bug outfit that was made of two pieces of fabric and some red wings. NO THANK YOU. In efforts to completely avoid such a disastrous purchase again, Jordan, Brandi, Michelle and I have come up with some costumes our customers can make out of our clothes! This means that yes, while you use a fur vest to dress as a deer or fox for Halloween, you can also use the same vest to dress up your outfit next weekend when you hit the town. So, here are just a couple of outfits we came up with. If you like (love love love) this idea, stop by and we can help you come up with something fun and versatile. HAPPY COSTUME HUNTING LADIES!

halloween

Is Jordan not the cutest? We were going for a 70’s hippie vibe. Our Tractor Blue bell bottom jeans with our mustard bell sleeve blouse and fringe booties worked perfectly. Jordan tied it all together with a burgundy tie-up choker and a fringe purse. Yeahhh man

halloween2

Don’t mind the face, it was the best evil look I could give. I wore this scandalous deep V lace dress. You can pair it with black heels or pointy tie-up flats and a devil accessory set you can get, inexpensive, at any costume store.

halloween3

The classic witch costume! I love this one especially (Sabrina the Teenage Witch).  Jordan used a long fitted t-shirt dress with a lightweight fringe cardigan. She used tie-up pointy flats and a one of a kind red broom.

halloween5

This look is so versatile. You can be a bunny, mouse, fox, deer, etc. Jordan used a long-sleeve piko dress (we have them in tons of colors), our popular fur vest (in two colors), and our pointy tie-up flats.

halloween6

Oh HAYY cowgirl! Jordan tied up this flannel shirt and wore our lace and denim shorts to pull this outfit together. Throw on some boots and you’re ready to ride.

halloween7

Can you keep a secret? Jordan became a night-robber in this cute striped dress, pointy tie-up flats, and black beanie. LOVE THIS!

That’s it folks! After doing this, I realized how easy it really is to make a costume. The best part is that you can re-wear the items again. SCORE! Thanks for reading today, I hope you have a SAFE and FUN weekend. We are open from 10-6 everyday except Sunday’s. Come see us or check us out online at www.ElizaAsh.com. Let us know what you come up with this weekend and watch out for clowns🙂

Our cold shoulder dress has the most perfect sleeve and back detail – flirty & cute all in one. We paired this with a bright Zenzii necklace to give it a pop of color. 105 degrees & faux suede

105 degrees & faux suede

Last week, Sabrina & I braved the 105 degree heat because we couldn't wait to show you some of our new arrivals. Pretending like we weren't dying, we set out to find the prettiest scenery we are so blessed to have right next to our store! Sabrina is a recent grad from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!), and is already pouring her knowledge into her work here. Together, Sabrina & I hope to grow our number of blog readers, improve our email campaigns and increase our social media following & exposure! These pictures were taken on her first day on the job here at Eliza Ash Boutique and I have to admit - we had way more fun than we probably should at "work"!

Dress / Purse / Shoes

We can't get enough of this dress! This past winter we had this high neck, faux suede dress with cutout sides in black, and when we recently saw it in plum we had to grab it, too! There is a zipper detail in the back as well that makes the top more fitted than the rest of the dress and comfortable to wear. The tote is a perfect size for everyday things. The best part is it's reversible! The flip side is tan in color which is great for fall, while the coconut color is great for this time of the year. Lastly, the wedges that complete the look (and are currently 25% OFF)! Strappy wedges with a buckle are easy to pair with skinny jeans for a less dressy look or pair with a dress for a more dressy look, like this one. You can find links to the products pictured above. Feel free to leave a comment for us and as always we love when our readers share our posts so we know what you guys like to read more of :) Stay tuned for more product spotlights to come!

Hot Summer, Cool Looks: Week 2

Hot Summer, Cool Looks: Week 2

This week's hot summer, cool looks outfit is this comfortable & breezy red & white striped shift dress. I love the faux suede pocket detail. It also has a little bit of a hi-lo detail as well! I plan on wearing mine to an N.C. State football game this season with a pair of sandals or, if it's cool enough outside, a pair of cowgirl boots! The best part is it's less than $35! Get it at www.ElizaAsh.com or stop by and see us between 10am-6pm Monday-Saturday.

Hot Summer, Cool Looks: Week 1

Hot Summer, Cool Looks: Week 1

I'm kicking off week 1 of our new blog campaign called Hot Summer, Cool Looks! Every week we'll be posting a summer favorite from our new arrivals, so make sure to keep checking our blog. Just because it's hot as lava outside doesn't mean you can't look cute, too! Don't get me wrong, the very last thing I want to spend my time on is getting ready to know as soon as I walk outside it was all for nothing. This summer I have found myself favoring the breezy and easy looks when the temps are as high as they have been.

I've always been drawn to clothing items that have a lot of detail. This blouse has everything - stripes, hi-low, buttons, cuffed sleeves, collar, v-neck, front tie, lightweight & breezy.

Our Striped Tie Front Blouse is a summer favorite this week and is only $33.99! Available in small, medium and large at www.ElizaAsh.com.

When I was a kid, summer comfort meant tennis shoes, shorts and a t-shirt that I didn't mind ruining with dirt & sweat. In middle school if I wasn't in flip flops, rolled up Soffe shorts and t-shirts with the sleeves rolled up, I was in cleats, shin guards, rolled up shorts and a soccer jersey. Hashtag rolled everything. Then there was high school. It was during these years I discovered what a fashion trendsetter was and at the same time discovered I was not one of them. I remember begging my mother to take me shopping at Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister just to look exactly like my best friend and the next high schooler.

Circa 2006

While those were great times circa 2006, I'm glad we let go of the public school uniform. Nowadays I find myself caring less about how I look and more about how clothes make me feel. BONUS for those outfits that come together and make you look AND feel great! Stay tuned for next week's summer favorite.

Eliza Ash Boutique takes RDU Baton!

The first time I heard about RDU Baton's initiative to showcase a different person's favorite hidden treasures in and around the RDU area was 3 years ago when I moved back to Raleigh after college. I basically grew up in North Raleigh, but most of my free time was filled with soccer practice, games, and traveling for tournaments (s/o to CASL). When I landed here after college (go ECU pirates!), I knew there was a lot to explore and even more that I had never seen - and let's be honest, I wasn't on my parent's dime anymore so I needed to figure out where to get the daily food specials (thanks for the easy 22 years M&D)! A friend mentioned @rdubaton on Instagram so I followed them and completely fell in love with the concept! For months I referred to RDU Baton as my personal concierge. I found restaurants, hidden waterfalls and lake spots, bars, activities and learned a lot of history about this wonderful city.
Signing up is easy. You visit www.rdubaton.com and fill out the application. There is currently a wait list, but it is worth putting your name down! They'll eventually get back to you and it'll be your turn to pick a date. The week of, they'll send you the credentials and you'll get a full 24 hours to post pictures of your favorite places and things! April 13th was an exciting day for us! Not only was it my (quarter of a century) birthday, but @elizaashboutique got to hold the baton! I'd like to take you through some of our activities that day. The first picture above was taken before work at Fred Fletcher Park near the corner of Glenwood Ave. and Peace St. This park is beautiful. There is so much to see and do including, run/walk the trail; play basketball, tennis, kickball, soccer, and frisbee; enjoy the flowers and greenery that surround the park; and so much more! There is a covered picnic area with a charcoal grill and a swing set for kids, as well. Many people get married at the nearby venue.
My next stop was obviously our beautiful store! We opened in December of 2015 and have enjoyed every single minute of it. We truly have the best customers and I was reminded of that when so many of them followed our journey on @rdubaton that day and commented on how much they love us and encouraged people to stop by! Our team has grown and we're excited to go back to market in about a month and a half to bring you the best of summer collections!
We enjoyed lunch at Over the Falls in the heart of Downtown Wake Forest. I recommend The Tower! The pretzel bun is ah-maz-ing! After fueling up we headed to our favorite spot on the Capital Area Greenway. Did you know it was started in 1972 and currently spans over 112 miles? There are 28 different trails that the trail system hopes to one day connect. This particular trail is the longest at 27.5 miles. Don't forget to stop by and rent your bikes from the guys at The Bike Guy!
Before getting ready for dinner I had to run over to my favorite brunch spot on the weekends - Jose and Sons! Where are my bloody mary fans at? They have the best bloody in town, located at The Depot in the Warehouse District in Downtown Raleigh! Think corn on the cob, pickles, celery, bacon, plus a kick of spice. They even give you a mini Mexican beer on the side to sip on.
Dinner was at Farina Neighborhood Italian Restaurant in Lafayette Village in North Raleigh. This was my first time, and I highly recommend the Cheese Filled Manicotti and Chardonnay!
If you can't already tell...I'm a sucker for outdoor lighting! Person Street Bar is a neighborhood bar that is fun any night of the week. I still consider it a hidden treasure in Downtown Raleigh. This area is one of my favorites and super close to where I live. I also love other establishments in this area like Wine Authorities, Piebird and I can't forget about watching donuts being made at Krispy Kreme! After this stop it was to The Station to watch Kobe Bryant's last game and then home to see my fur baby, Daisy! I hope you got the chance to follow us in real time, but I also had a blast writing this up and remembering how much fun 25 years old has been so far! Until next time...
